CONTEMPORARY MOVIES AND SOCIAL IMPACT

We have observed the fast changes in the Indian cinema from last few decades and simultaneously in the concept of themes and stories, which used to be the basses of a best cinema, have also changed. Indian cinema has remained the major part of entertainment in urban India and also in semi-urban areas of the country, although peoples easy reach in the rural part of society remained limited till the small screen reached to those parts of country in early 80’s. The Indian cinema used to project the stories and make films of the same for improvement in social rituals or abolishing the social evils. Educate the society to adopt the improved means of agriculture, educational system, health and hygiene, science and technology, Nationality and patriotism, finance and commerce, defense, sports, good impact of joint families, relations etc. The society used to enjoy the cinema and the message used to allure people to hard work and improve their earning to improve the standards of living and comforts of family. We have seen the great actors capable to send the message in an impressive and effective way and gain applause and love for themselves. The directors and actors used to search for the best and thoughtful stories and problems faced by society to make movies and provide the descriptive message to masses. We have observed the cinema celebration of golden and Diamond jubilees. That was the best streak of cinema with the producers keeping balance in earning but intend and stress for effective and progressive messaging. In the broader prospective we can rate the then period of cinema as educative and impressive.

Time has changed and that has changed the film industry and money power influenced the all other concepts, rules and rituals of cinema makers and entertainment industry overpowered and abolished the basic moral of cinema making in India. The film makers started to change the basic concepts in film making from educating the masses to entertainment. Music direction changed from classical to some mixed type of Indian western musical concept so changed the words and dialect of songs. Dancing patterns changed with the stress on entertainment to perfection. With the passage of time the Lady artists in lead roles started dressing like cabree dancers and projection of lady as a commodity rather than as the statue of love and affection is now seen in common pictures. The love is overpowered by lust.

Cinema Industry has been overpowered to some extend by Mafia and terrorists and every major terror attack leads to the making of a film on the sad happening but projecting the bravery of terrorists to inculcating the threat perception in society. Projection remain usually so swear that it terrorizes the general public in real life to raise voices against the evident and real menace. The people in general want to remain away and feel scared to inform authorities about any possible untoward they observe in the vicinity is planned, so that they should not be pinpointed.

The violence, vulgarity, obscenity and cultural abusiveness remains the intentional back ground of many film makers to change the age-old rituals and civilization of society which were instrumental in educating the generations in joint families. Linking the facilities of quick illegal earnings by uncivilized and erroneous way to achieve and enjoy the comforts of life, is now commonly shown in contemporary cinema. It has influenced the youth and encouraged them to adopt the wrong way of living, simultaneously the crime and criminals have increased.

The contemporary cinema has influenced the small screen also. The viewership of small screen is vast and almost every family has the easy reach to view the daily episode of long-time broadcasting serial mostly meaningless but full of suspense. During initial period of producing and depiction of the sequent in episodes in small screen, the message used to be informative, reformative and educational but with the passage of time the lowering of standard started and ways and means to brake the families were depicted, to educate youth to create meanly situations to fade the traditional color of good and happy family, parity between rich and poor, Small set up of families given edge over joint concept of living etc.

I am not negative in vision and concept. I believe that the major share of small screen is informative and knowledgeable. It has made society aware about the global fundamentals and world culture, science and technology, environment and nature and we can say that the world knowledge in any field has been made easy to gain. But few producers and film makers in Indian Bollywood and in the business of making sequent for Television have mortgaged their ideals and character with option to monetary benefits and killed their concision's and are habitual to damage the culture and tradition of the country for petty personal gains and left the society to face the consequences. The responsibility of keeping the social set up affluent and repair the damages lies on every citizen of the country and his/her sincerity towards the profession. I sum up to say that good society makes great Nation and basis of good society are best people.
